FAQs

What times are you open?

Before school care is open between 0645-0830 hrs, we then walk the kids to Whenuapai School. After school care picks the kids up from school at 1500 hrs and closes at 1730 hrs.

Do you provide food for the children?

Kids are expected to have had breakfast unless prior arrangements are made. We provide a light afternoon tea upon arriving at WASC.

Are the children separated by ages when at WASC?

Yes, we do have different areas for juniors (age?) and seniors (age?).

What facilities do you have available?

In the junior area there are arts and crafts, a movie room and a gaming area. Outside there is a playground and trampoline, as well as various sports equipment available for use.

In the senior area, there are arts and crafts, air hockey, table tennis, plus movie and gaming areas. Outside there is a trampoline and grassed area available for use.

Do you full time and casual options available?

Yes, certainly. You can enrol your child full time, morning/afternoons only, or on a casual basis. Contact us about your specific requirements.

What happens with bad behaviour?

It is essential that you advise the Supervisor of anything that disturbs or upsets your child. Your child/children are to abide by the rules of behaviour set down by the After School Care Committee and upheld by the Staff. Any child whose unreasonable behaviour affects the WASC Staff and/or other children attending, may be dismissed from WASC. Your child/children will show respect and courtesy towards the WASC Manager, staff and all other children attending WASC. Your child/children will be treated with that same respect by the Manager and all other staff at WASC. Please note – while on school grounds, the school rules apply to the behaviour of all children at WASC. For more details, refer to the attached document.

Is there a priority system for bookings?

Yes there is – military families have first priority, followed by NZDF civilians and then on base contractors. We have not been over capacity in the past few years, so there is a strong chance your child would be accepted.

What are the fees?

Fees can be found in the attached document.

Can you cater for children with differing needs?

Please discuss your childs needs with the WASC Manager to assess suitability. Further details on this process are attached.

What can I do if I have a complaint/grievance?

Please find our complaint/grievance policy attached.
